Arde Osteria Italian BYOB Restaurant Review
Arde Osteria is an adorable BYOB restaurant located right outside of Philly on the mainline. The inside is rustic and modern, a great spot for a date or to catch up with girlfriends. I highly recommend checking this place out. The service and food were incredible.
The location of Arde Osteria is perfect, it’s super easy to get to by train or car. It’s right in the middle of town, surrounded by tons of shops, restaurants and feet from the Wayne train station. Even better, there is both street parking and a large parking lot that are all meter pay style.
The atmosphere is rustic, with exposed brick walls and wooden tables. But, the real show stopper is the large wood-fire oven that’s used to cook their flatbreads. Restaurant go-ers can see directly into the kitchen and witness all of the hustle and bustle first hand. The ambience of the whole restuarant is perfect for a date night or a fun girls night.
First and foremost, it’s BYOB (so make sure you stop and grab your favorite bottle of wine on your way in!) Also, when we went the menu online wasn’t exactly the same as the menu we got when we were there, which we were a little disappointed about.
To start, every table gets freshly baked and cut bread with a red italian sauce for dipping.
We were really looking forward to starting with a charcuterie board (meats and cheeses), but the menu only had two options, one for just meat and one for just cheeses, each for about $20. Since we really had our heart set on both, we couldn’t pick just one, so we ordered both. Our server (a sweet older woman with a thick italian accent) came back and asked if it was okay if the chef mixed both meats and cheeses together on one board for us to save us some money. Of course we were thrilled about this, and we got a beautiful charcuterie board for only $25.
We eat a lot.
Next, we were both still craving carbs, but also wanted the salmon. Quite honestly, everything on the menu sounded so amazing, we couldn’t decide. We ended up ordering the mushroom truffle flatbread as our second appetizer and then we both got freshly grilled salmon with an arugula salad as our entrees.
The flatbread was absolutely amazing. It was packed with flavor and toppings. It was cooked perfectly, nice and crispy (and melty), but not burnt. The arugula salad had a light lemon vinaigrette which was definitely needed after all of the meat, cheese and bread we just consumed. The salmon was also amazing, but while it was charred on the outside, mine was pretty undercooked on the inside. I’m not super picky, so it didn’t bother me much, but some people could have definitely been disappointed.
We were craving something sweet at the end of our meal (yes, we know how to eat), so we had some gelato – pistachio and vanilla bean. It was super creamy and delicious – the perfect ending to the meal.
