I love being active and doing things on the weekends. I love to take advantage of all of the time I have to spend with my friends and loved ones, but it can get expense. I like to mix up weekend activities and find things to do that are fun and new but also won’t break the bank. Keep reading for a winery review!

I was back in my little PA hometown this past weekend and had the chance to explore a local vineyard/winery, Galer Estate! For just $10 you’re able to try 4 of their different wines. They put together their seasonal recommendations for you in, which I always think is the way to go! This particular recommendation included the one chardonnay, one white, one red, and one rose. I know I’m basic, but the rose was hands down my favorite.
Most of the grapes that Galer uses in their wines are sourced right from their own vineyard. But the grapes that they outsource never travel more than thirty miles, which is one of my favorite things about smaller wineries and vineyards. They are usually extremely environmentally conscious 🙂
This is strictly a vineyard/winery, they don’t have a restaurant on the premise. They do offer a cheese board which included crackers, a local goat cheese, and a sharp cheddar cheese. I think the types of cheeses varies though so don’t hold me to that! The portions were huge for two people, and it only cost $10. You also have the option to include bread and olive oil for a couple of dollars.
The tasting room is only open from Thursday-Sunday. They have different attractions each of the days – from wine parties, live music, art shows, and more. There was live music when I was there and it was great. We sat outside and had a beautiful view of their vineyard and all of the grape trees. The inside tasting room is very rustic and cozy. There is also a private room that you can rent out for parties that are in the same room as the wine barrels and machines the wine!
Overall: The atmosphere is beautiful. The wine is good but expensive for the most part. The selection is okay. The staff is great and attentive. The company … (well that depends 🙂 )
If you have any vineyards/wineries or other fun weekend experiences I would love some ideas! Leave a comment and let me know what your favorite is!
