Ruby’s Cafe Brunch – Murray Hill, NYC
Brunch, every NYC girl’s favorite past time. This Sunday we chose to stay local and go to Ruby’s Cafe in Murray Hill, which we all ended up loving. It had everything we needed to cure our case of the Sunday Scaries.
Ruby’s is an Australian-style restaurant. Everything from the menu and decor to the servers are authentically Aussie. The service is perfect and it seemed like everyone there was genuinely happy and kind, which is refreshing to say the least. The decor is simple and cute. And the food is delicious, trendy, and reasonably priced.
All five of us girls ordered off of the “brekkie” (breakfast) menu, but their lunch menu looked equally delicious. We started out with cappuccinos, flat whites, smoothies, juices, and of course an order of french fries with truffle aioli.
What we ordered
For brunch I ordered an the egg sandwich – a fried egg with a hash brown, roasted tomatoes, arugula, and spicy relish. Two of my friends got avocado toast with a poached egg and smoked salmon. One of my other friends ordered the breakfast bowl – a poached egg, pesto brown rice, zucchini, avocado, and she added bacon. (All in the image above). We each thoroughly enjoyed our meals and it’s safe to say we will be back.
But of course, brunch is only as good as the people you share it with. The food, service, and atmosphere were all outstanding, but the people I was with were even better. We had a case of the hungover haha’s and I’m sure the rest of the patrons didn’t love us. It was a morning full of belly laughs and shared stories, and that’s what makes brunch a city girl’s favorite meal of the day.
