Today is National Strawberry Day, so I decided to write a strawberry appreciation post followed by a few of my favorite detox water recipes!
Strawberries are extremely high in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals – specifically folate, potassium, manganese, dietary fiber, magnesium, and vitamin C. This means they are great for your immune system, eye health, they help fight wrinkles, bad cholesterol, and high blood pressure. That alone is enough to get me to my local farmer’s market! I always make sure to grab enough to make smoothies and detox waters that will last me throughout the week. I also like to cut some of the extra ones up so I can put them in my yogurt in the morning. Strawberries are so versatile!
Detox or infused waters have various benefits depending on what on what you include in it. They are also great for people who don’t like to drink flavorless water. Some people claim infused waters can help boost your metabolism and flush out toxins!
Here a few of my favorite infused waters. I like to switch out tap water with sparkling water to curb my soda cravings!
- Strawberries, mint leaves, and blueberries
- Strawberries, raspberries, and cucumber
- Strawberries, lemon, and rosemary
- Strawberries and lime
